A Peace Pole was placed in the front of the High School, visible to all.  We had a dedication ceremony and unveiling on Friday, April 21, 2017.  The Interact Club of Forest Grove organized the ceremony, attending by about 50 people – students, staff, Rotarians, and community members.  Rotarian Matt Stone gave the history and purpose of the Peace Pole Project, and various students and staff provided their thoughts or quotes about peace in English, Spanish, German, French, Chinese, and American Sign Language.  This was one of the over 100 Peace Poles dedicated or to be dedicated in Rotary District 5100 this spring.

Peace Pole was placed in the Nature Garden adjacent to SE Uplift which is accessible to the community and the school/church next door.  This was a cooperative project with the Rotary Club of Southeast Portland, Portland Peace Choir and SE Uplift.   At the dedication ceremony and unveiling on Sunday, Susan Winterbourne spoke about the commonalities of mission for each of the three organizations, the Portland Peace Choir sang several peace and earth songs, and a Dance of Universal Peace was arranged for all participants.

This Peace Pole has 8 languages as well as ASL. This was one of the over 100 peace poles dedicated or to be dedicated in Rotary District 5100 this spring.
