Peace Pole Dedication at Presbyterian Church in Maumee, Ohio-USA

Friday, February 5th, 2010

March 13th, 2009

The Peace Pole was presented as a gift to the synod from the Reverend, Dr. Marie T. Cross, retiring Synod Executive.  Prior to a service of worship, there was a time of celebration, with a dinner and remarks made by members of the synod and the General Assembly.

In response, Reverend Cross gave thanks for the years of experience and good work done in partnership with the Presbyteries and committed members of the synod. The Peace Pole, with the four languages of the synod (English, Spanish, Cherokee and Korean) stands as a lasting sign of the past and hope for the future.  The four grandsons of Ms. Cross (Nick, Luke Jake and Ben Strand of Indianapolis), carried the Peace Pole forward for the presentation. It was planted later at the entry to the synod office by Synod Moderator, Reverend David Bartley, Presbytery of Maumee Valley.

Peace Pole Dedication in Danvers, Illinois-USA

2009

An informal gathering of 12 family members and friends stood in a circle and sang all the “peace songs” we could think of such as, Peace Like a River; Peace, Peace. Then we went around the circle, naming people, place and things for which we wished peace (such as, our nation, the world, the farm).
