May Peace Prevail in Amenia, New York, USA Strawberry Festival

June 12th, 2010

The inclement weather did not dampen the spirits of the Amenia community!

Volunteers and supporter came out on this chilly and rainy day to support the Amenia Strawberry Festival. It is an annual community gathering introduced by the Presbyterian Church, 37 years ago, as one of its major fundraisers. It has grown to become the town’s annual event.

The Amenia Library, founded in 1938, co-sponsors this event, featuring a silent auction, baked goods, and of course, a book sale!

The WPPS traveling Peace Pole, crafted at The World Peace Sanctuary was well received by many on this day as it joined over 30 Peace Poles that have been planted in this small rural town, over the past 20 years. Wayne Euvard, Amenia Town Supervisor and Alan Gamble, President of Amenia Library were pleased to see the Peace Pole displayed at the outside entrance library; the main corridor to the event.
