Peace Pole at School Sisters of Notre Dame African Novitiate-West Africa

June 11th, 2009

A handcrafted Peace Pole was planted at the School Sisters of Notre Dame African Novitiate Sunyani, Ghana, West Africa on June 11, 2009.

The dedication of the Peace Pole took place during a prayer service.  The service included a song, a blessing of the Peace Pole, prayers for peace and finally a personal Commitment to Peace by the novices, directors, staff and invited guests of the School Sisters of Notre Dame African Novitiate.

The Peace Pole is planted in a significant place on the entrance road into the Novitiate so that each one entering will pass the Peace Pole.

The four languages on the Peace Pole are Twi, English, Swahili and German.  These languages represent the languages connected to the novices sisters and staff living and ministering at the novitiate.
