The gifted Kirtan group Sita’s Light, led by Miriam “Sita” Zernis at the harmonium, presented an evening of sacred chanting at YogaSpace in Bethel, Connecticut on April 25. Miriam was accompanied by Fumio Taniguchi on tabla and other percussion and Suan Armstrong on flute and backup vocals. The music is designed to open the heart to love, joy and healing.

The final chant was “May Peace Prevail, May Peace Prevail on Earth,” inspired by the World Peace Prayer Ceremony performed annually at the Chapel at Croton Falls in May to celebrate the international Symphony of Peace Prayers. Miriam wove this message with the Sanskrit prayer for peace, “Lokah Samasta Sukhino Bhavantu” (may all people be happy). Miriam also carries “May Peace Prevail on Earth” with her on her harmonium wherever she goes – (see the picture)!
