World Peace Flag Ceremony for IDP on Long Island, NY-USA

We held an International Day of Peace at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Shelter Rock today on Sunday September 22 on our outdoor Patio beside the Peace Pole standing on the spacious lawn. Ben Bortin announced that prayers of peace would be given to the Hispanic countries in appreciation of our neighbors and their cultures. A poem was read in Spanish and English by Ron Roel and Audrey Murphy. Willow, led by Farah Chandu and the childrens’ choir, with conductor George Weisman sang songs of peace.

The World Peace Flag Ceremony  ended with a procession to the Peace Pole displaying most of the Latin American flags and then the flags of countries in crisis such as Syria, Iran, Afghanistan, Iraq, Israel and Palestine.

The ceremony closed with the prayer, May Peace Prevail On Earth.
