World Peace Flag Ceremony at UNESCO Youth Forum
8th Unesco Youth Forum – October 29 – 31
The Goi Peace Foundation, Sister organization of WPPS, organized a cultural event in cooperation with UNESCO and Stiftung Entrepreneurship on October 30th at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris. The program was titled “Drumming for Youth Civic Engagement” and was part of the three day 8th UNESCO Youth Forum.
The program began with the sounds of Japanese Taiko drumming as a symbolic and energetic opening to address youth civic engagement. Following the dramatic opening, three young social entrepreneurs from Sweden, Bangladesh and Switzerland presented their innovative projects aiming to inspire the Forum’s young participants to become agents of change.
The event was also used as a platform to launch the Youth Citizen Entrepreneurship Competition to honor and foster young entrepreneurs ages 15-30 who are creating positive change in their communities by helping to solve some of the key challenges of today with their innovative ideas and leadership.
To close the program, The World Peace Flag Ceremony was presented by youth leaders to send peace out to every region on earth. It was enthusiastically received by all participants who in the end mounted the stage to embrace the spirit of global oneness.
