A Peace Pole was dedicated at First United Methodist Church Olympia, WA. on June 18, 2022. It was donated by the Hanson family, in honor of the family and remembrance of Rod Hanson, following the memorial service for him. The Peace Pole was erected under an old oak tree planted there in 1872.  One of the three oldest oaks in Olympia.

A dedication service was held including some of these words.   “We present this Peace Pole to be consecrated to the glory of almighty God, as a testimony to the prayers of the people of this church for God’s peace in the world”.  “This peace pole is one of nearly a quarter of a million peace poles erected worldwide in 180 different countries”. 

The service concluded with the song “Let There Be Peace on Earth”.
