Peace Pole planting in Nottuln Friedenspfahleinweihung – Westfälische Nachrichten, GERMANY
January 13, 2023
Dear colleagues,
Latter part of December-2022, Dr. Thönnes, Mayor of Nottuln in Germany, announced he had planted the first of four Peace Poles in this community.
On January 13th, 2023, the first Peace Pole planting took place outside the Townhall.
The remaining three Peace Pole plantings are scheduled to take place this year as well.
Approximately seventy people attended, despite inclement weather.
Mayor, Thönnes spoke to the attendees about the Peace Pole Project.
He went on to announce that the four Peace Poles, which will stand vigil in this community, should be a motivation for community members to stand up for peace!
A local coffee shop owner in the area learned about the new Peace Pole that just had been planted, and announced that his coffee shop (close to a touristic site) shall also have a Peace Pole planted there!
It will be glorious to have five Peace Poles in this community, so close to Münster.
In Münster, ( an independent city in Germany) a Japanese delegation, Sonoko Tanaka, Peace Representative, and I planted a Peace Pole in 2018.
Mayor Thönnes, proudly announced that Chodiez, which is Nottuln’s, sister city in Poland, will also plant a Peace Pole this year. Nottuln sponsored the language plates for their Peace Pole.
May Peace Prevail On Earth
