Gandhi-King Season for Nonviolence 2024 NYC – USA

The 27th annual “Gandhi-King Season for Nonviolence” culminating event took place on March 20th, 2024, at the Ethical Society in New York City.  Youth were bused in from each of the Burroughs representing …. Name schools….  Each school celebrated the occasion with an impressive array of presentations ranging from dance, music and the spoken word.

The theme of the day was further magnified by keynote speakers who celebrated the 60th anniversary of the historic “March on Washington” & “I Have a Dream” speech. Walter Naegle, surviving partner of Bayard Rustin, one of Dr. King’s closest advisor and chief organizer of the “March” spoke brilliantly on the historic movement and how to move forward in the spirit of Dr. King.  Other speakers included Angelina Butler and others who were activists in those days supporting the civil rights movement.

The World Peace Flag Ceremony closed the day with students representing the nations of the world by raising the flags of every nation for peace to prevail on earth.
