Magnolia Rotary Club and city install Peace Pole, Magnolia, Texas-USA
November 25, 2024
The Magnolia Rotary Club and the City of Magnolia held a Peace Pole dedication on Thursday at Wilson Garden.
“A Peace Pole is an internationally recognized symbol of the hopes and dreams of the entire human family, standing vigil in silent prayer for peace on earth. Each Peace Pole bears the message ‘May Peace Prevail On Earth’ in different languages on each of its four or six sides. There are estimated over 250,000 Peace Poles in every country in the world dedicated as monuments to peace,” according to the Peace Pole Project website.
City Councilperson and Rotarian Wayne Simpson said, “When our district governor was here, she talked about the Peace Pole Project and how she’d been involved in them before and was thinking about doing one down at Fordyce. That was the first one (our Rotary district) put up. We took that as a boar, d and thank you to Steve (Hardy Rotary President) for allowing me to kind of spearhead the project for the club here in Magnolia.”
Simpson said that the pole should help remind people to focus on peace and to pray for peace when they visit Wilson Garden.
Simpson and Mayor Parnell Vann installed the Peace Pole together.
