Collaboration between the Rotary Club of Le Francois and the Interact Club of La Yole, Martinique-FRANCE
March 20, 2025
Hello,
I’m forwarding an article about the installation of the first Peace Poles in Martinique. The photo below was taken at APALOOSA in Le François. Installed on Thursday, March 20th.
In a wonderful collaborative effort, the Rotary Club of Le François and the Interact Club of La Yole have joined forces to promote peace within our community by inaugurating two Peace Poles at La Jetée High School. This symbolic initiative, which takes place in an educational context, aims to convey messages of peace and love in several languages: English, French, Spanish, and Creole.

The Peace Poles, true ambassadors of peace, were installed in the school courtyard, demonstrating the commitment of students, teachers, and Rotary members to making this school a haven of tolerance and respect. This initiative is also part of a broader effort to raise awareness among young people about humanist values and encourage them to become agents of change in their communities.
The inauguration of the Peace Poles was honored by the presence of our governor, Debbie Roopchand, adding special significance to this important event. Her participation underscored the importance of such initiatives in fostering community spirit and promoting peace.
The collaboration between the Rotary Club of Le François and the Interact Club La Yole is not limited to this single initiative. It reflects a strong partnership, where young Interact members work alongside Rotary members to organize community events and projects. Together, they work to create a climate of peace and solidarity, both within the school and beyond.
Another Peace Pole was also erected at APALOOSA, a popular gathering place in Le François, where various events such as concerts and parties are held. This strategic location allows the club to reach a wide audience and spread the message of peace throughout the community.
The inauguration ceremony, which took place on Thursday, March 20, 2025, was attended by students, Rotary members, and residents of Le François. A commemorative plaque was unveiled, symbolizing the beginning of a collective commitment to peace. This event strengthened intergenerational bonds and encouraged everyone to carry the torch of peace in their daily lives.
Together, the Rotary Club of Le François and the Interact Club of La Yole continue to sow the seeds of peace, inspiring youth and community members to live by these essential values. This wonderful collaboration demonstrates that when we unite for a worthy cause, we can truly make a difference and build a better future for all.
