April 3, 2025
The 28th annual Gandhi-King Season of Nonviolence was celebrated on April 3rd at the New York Ethical Society. This intergenerational, cross-cultural educational event was hosted by the Institute for International Leadership Nonviolence and Service—Learn Lead Serve Inc.

Schools from all 5 boroughs of New York attended and presented in solidarity to the principles of nonviolence as taught by Gandhi and Dr. King through music, dance, spoken word and song. In honor of the 60th anniversary of the Voting Rights March from Selma to Montgomery, Ms. Lynda Blackmon Lowery was invited to deliver a keynote speech. Ms. Lowery was the youngest person to complete the entire historic march across the Edmund Pettus Bridge at the age of 15 and still is a lifelong civil rights activist to this day.
