School age students from the Don Bosco Comprehensive School in Tolentino dedicated a day to the “Peace in the World! Tolentino, Marche, ITALY
April 5, 2024
On April 5th, we held a World Peace Flag Ceremony ( WPFC) flag at an elementary school in Italy with 387 students and 67 teachers, also refurbished and re-planted the Peace Pole that was planted in 1998. At the WPFC, children “paired up” to raise each national flag, while the elder children represented the national flags alone, all of them fulfilling the role of ambassadors of peace for their assigned respective countries one by one. Both teachers and children kept beautiful smiles on their faces as they joined in a chorus of prayers for peace, and many of them said to me, “I was deeply touched, thank you.”
Here is an article that this elementary school published in the prefectural newspaper as a report of their activities.
“On April 5th, 2024, kindergarten and elementary school students from the Don Bosco Comprehensive School in Tolentino dedicated a day to the “Peace in the World! ” Event.
Ms. Sonoko Tanaka, Ms. Marea Muramoto, and Mr. Guerrino Spada volunteered much of their time and sensitive hearts in direct contact with the children and teachers, and we received a precious collaboration. It was a very impressive and moving ceremony, with the children representing their assigned countries with flags from all around the world, and all the students praying for peace with one voice. Principal Simona Lombardelli explained the value and importance of the words we choose and use daily as a means of spreading peace and encouraged everyone to think deeply about it. Also present were Vice Mayor Alessia Pupo, City Council President Alessandro Massi, and Family Council President Claudio Cegna, who expressed their gratitude and thoughts on peace at the Peace Pole unveiling ceremony.” (Sonoko Tanaka, Italy)
