Girl Scouts “World Thinking Day” with MPPOE Int., Yorktown Heights, NY

On Friday, February 22nd, 2019, Jim Dugan of May Peace Prevail On Earth International spent the evening with over 250 Girl Scouts from the Heart of the Hudson Chapter at the Jefferson Valley Mall in Yorktown Heights, NY.

It has been his honor and pleasure to be with these young ladies for the last five years on what is known as “World Thinking Day”. This year Jim was joined by fellow organizers of Peace; Fumi Johns- Stewart, Executive Director; Jules Lamore, Director of Peace Pals International and Deb Musgrove, Veteran World Peace Volunteer.

From the stage, Jim spoke about the history of May Peace Prevail on Earth, The Peace Pole Project, Peace Pals International and the Youth Art Peace Pole Project. He also spoke of what we can do globally to gain the necessary skills to be an effective peace worker during this incredibly important time on our little planet.

Each was given a button with “May Peace Prevail on Earth” which was a delight to see adorned on their Girl Scout sashes next to their other earned badges.

“World Thinking Day” is promoted by the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts of the USA, originating in 1926. Young ladies from 150 different countries participate in the yearly event that is an annual tradition on February the 22nd. This special gathering is so the Girl Scouts and Girl Guides can come together to take part in activities to promote change in the world for the better. With such an incredible experience, the Girl Scouts have adopted the motto: “Girls Save the World”.

The World Peace Flag Ceremony allowed these young women to broaden their awareness of our shared planet.

As in previous years, during the World Peace Flag Ceremony, the girls each carried a flag from a different nation as they took their flag in a parade around the entire floor of the mall. As Jim stated the name of each country from the stage, region by region, everyone, including parents and siblings in attendance, all shouted the name of that country. As we got to the end of each region, everyone joined in on “May Peace be in each Country as well as Region. The finale was outstanding as all joyously exclaimed as loud as possible – “May Peace Prevail on Earth”. It is always wonderful to see the bystanders look on in amazement witnessing this powerful, harmonizing, colorful and fantastically upbeat celebration.

Jim and all at May Peace Prevail On Earth International truly wish to thank Amelia Roger and Gail McBride (both Incredible, lifelong leaders for the Girl Scouts of America).

We would also like to thank the Jefferson Valley Mall for allowing us to share the important Message of “May Peace Prevail on Earth” loud enough for the World to hear.
