The Rotary Club of Arlington completed construction of the Peace Pole and surrounding rose beds at Meadowbrook Park over the weekend.
A Peace Pole is an internationally recognized symbol of the hopes and dreams of the entire human family, standing vigil in silent prayer for peace on earth. Each Peace Pole bears the message “May Peace Prevail On Earth” in different languages on each side. There is an estimated 250,000 Peace Poles in every country in the world, dedicated as monuments to peace.
The Arlington Rotary Club championed Meadowbrook Park, Arlington’s first city park that opened in 1924 with picnic grounds and a nine-hole golf course. A formal dedication of the Peace Pole will be held in conjunction with the City’s Meadowbrook Park centennial celebration in November.
The Peace Pole project was made possible by the Rotary Club of Arlington, Arlington Parks and Recreation, Atmos Energy, Graham Associates, Hutcherson Construction Inc, H3 Construction, 3DI Sign & Design, SiteOne Landscape Supply and Whiz-Q Stone.
